Find builders,
not just repos.

Activity scored for recency, so the top of your results are the people shipping right now.

Pick keywords, let BuilderHunt cross-reference public activity across sources, and review only the people worth your attention.

  1. Define your hunt

Pick keywords, sources, language and country filters. Save as many searches as you like, one per stack or persona.

    Keywords: React, TypeScript
    GitHubReddit
  2. Get scored matches

A recency-weighted score surfaces builders shipping now. Open profiles to view cross-platform signals in one place.

Features

Built for the people who build things.

Every feature is here because it makes finding, scoring, or tracking builders faster than doing it by hand.

Multi-source discovery

GitHub stars, HN upvotes, Reddit karma, DEV.to posts. We index them and dedupe by person, so a single profile shows up across all four.

13
Sources

indexed across GitHub, Reddit, Hacker News, DEV.to and 9 more, scored and deduped to one profile per person.

Recency-weighted scoring

A 7-day commit is worth more than a 3-year-old star pile. Scores decay on a half-life curve, so the top of your results is whoever shipped most recently.

Keyword alerts

Set the filters once. We send an email or RSS ping the moment a new builder matches. No daily digest, just the hits that matter.

Private notes

Stash private context on any builder: outreach status, where you met them, why they matter. Only you see them.

CSV / JSON export

Export any shortlist to CSV or JSON. Pipe it into Notion, Airtable, your ATS, or a spreadsheet. No lock-in.

No tracking, no spam

We don't message builders on your behalf and we don't sell profile data. You find them, you reach out. That's the whole model.

Pipeline

Three surfaces that turn a search into a system.

Discovery is the entry point. Alerts, sprints and shared shortlists are what keep it running without you clicking refresh.

  • Keyword alerts

Set the filter once. We tell you the moment a new builder matches.

  • AI sourcing sprints

Give a role a deadline and let a sprint work the sources for you.

  • Team shortlists

Share saved searches and shortlists with your workspace. Private lists stay private.

AI helpers

Five places AI helps.

Every AI action runs through one credit ledger, and every cost is shown before you run it.

  • Semantic search

Find builders by what they shipped, not by the words they chose for their profile.

  • AI sourcing sprints

Background re-runs of a saved search until it has found enough to be worth your time.

  • Outreach copilot

Draft the first note in your voice. You edit it before anything is sent.

  • Profile enrichment

A verified claim holder gets an evidence-backed profile. It never affects search ranking.

  • CV generation and tailoring

Generate a CV from confirmed facts, tailored to a role without inventing experience.

Open-source maintainers

The Problem

You're shipping a popular repo and need a few good co-maintainers. The bar is high and the pool is wide.

Common questions, answered.

What is BuilderHunt, in one sentence?

A radar for open-source builders: it aggregates public activity from 13 public developer sources — GitHub, Reddit, Hacker News and DEV.to among them — scores it for recency, and lets you save searches, get alerts, and track the people behind the work.

Is it really free?

There is a Free plan that stays free: 3 saved searches, 50 saved builders, and full access to /explore and /blog, with no credit card and no expiry. Paid plans (Pro, Pro Max, Team) add smart alerts, semantic search, AI sourcing sprints and a monthly credit grant — see /pricing for what each one includes.

Do I need API tokens for the sources?

No. Every source works out of the box with no setup on your end — there's nothing for you to configure or supply.

How is the activity score calculated?

A recency-weighted blend of public signals: stars, forks, PRs, upvotes, karma, posts. Recent activity is worth much more than old activity. The exact weights are visible in the dashboard so you can sanity-check any result.

Do you contact the builders on my behalf?

No. We don't send DMs, emails, or anything. You find them, you reach out. We just do the discovery and the tracking.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Any shortlist, saved search, or note collection can be exported to CSV or JSON with one click. Your data is yours.
